2012 Edition
So, yeah, I'm a week late posting about our latest trip to the zoo, but even seven days later we're still talking about how fun it was! As I've said before, we never miss the annual USI Day at the Zoo. In fact, we've been going since Ava was a baby. It's an adventure that never disappoints.
This year, we had beautiful weather, slim crowds, and a couple of excited kiddos. Although the lighting inside Amazonia wasn't ideal for this photo, it clearly captures the attitude of the day. Of all our times at Mesker Park Zoo, this was probably the most enjoyable.
During the animal encounters, there was a clear reptilian theme going on--snakes, lizards, and a couple of other scaly creatures I couldn't even identify. Either way, both Ava and Hudson braved petting every single one of them.
Of course, the children's area was one of the highlights as well. We were starting to get hungry by this time (the free popcorn and cookies from earlier in the day had worn off!), but we let the little ones burn off their excess energy before we packed up, snagged a few things at the gift shop with Easter money, and then stopped at GD Ritzy's on the way home.
It was another successful zoo foray for the Smith family (minus E, who was once again golfing). Thankfully, Mamaw and Papaw were happy to accompany us again this year. Already, Hudson is asking to go again and Ava can't wait either. Looks like I've passed on my interest in animals to both my offspring. ;)
